What is GENERACTION?

The GENERACTION project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, supporting our mission to equip youth with the knowledge and skills to take action for a greener future. This initiative is led by a consortium of committed organizations: Les Jeunes Européens – France, Friends of the Earth Hungary, CRESCE, and Surfrider, all working together to bridge the gap between European citizenship and environmental action.

The fight against climate change is not just a challenge for future generations—it is our responsibility today. We believe that European citizens, especially youth, must be at the forefront of this fight. Through education, awareness, and action, we aim to empower young people to become informed, engaged, and active participants in shaping a more sustainable Europe.

Our courses are divided into three pathways: water protection, community energy, and city. Each one offers a different learning experience inspired by its environment. In the image below, you'll find a variety of courses and content in each category, offering insights into how different environments influence our climate and sustainability efforts.

Community energy

Introduction to Community Energy

Description: This course provides a practical introduction to energy communities, explaining what they are, why they matter, and how they operate. Participants will learn to communicate the basic concepts and discover the benefits energy communities offer for sustainability and citizen engagement. Additionally, through an interactive board game, they will gain hands-on experience in community decision-making and energy management.

Objectives: Understand what energy communities are and why they are important. Learn how energy communities operate and what benefits they offer. Be able to explain the basics of energy communities to others. Gain practical insights into community decision-making and energy management through a board game.

City

Key International and European Climate Institutions

Description: This course provides an overview of the main international and European institutions addressing climate change. It explains how the IPCC works and the significance of its reports, and details how the European Union makes climate-related decisions through initiatives such as the Green Deal and the Fit for 55 packages. Finally, it examines the interaction between science and politics in climate governance.

Objectives: Identify the key international and European institutions acting for the climate. Understand how the IPCC works and what its reports mean. Understand how the EU makes climate-related decisions (e.g., Green Deal, Fit for 55).Recognize how science (IPCC) and politics (EU) interact in climate governance.

Water protection

Ocean Protection

Description: This course aims to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the ocean for future generations. Participants will understand the main sources of marine litter in order to identify effective solutions and reflect on how to improve their own habits and behaviors to help protect the marine environment.

Objectives: To raise awareness about the importance of preservation of the ocean for future generations. Understand the source of marine litter to figure out solutions and improve personal behaviors.

Ecoresponsible practices on how to reduce plastic consumption

Description: This course helps participants identify the environmental impacts of plastic consumption and encourages the adoption of eco-responsible practices in daily life. Participants will learn how to reduce their use of plastics and incorporate more sustainable habits to help protect the environment.

Objectives: Identify environmental impacts of the consumption of plastic. Implement eco-responsible practices in their lifestyle, reducing plastic consumption.
